About Literacy Learning Academy

Literacy Learning Academy, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that was formed in December 2022. The organization aims to help students who are from socioeconomically challenged areas in New York City, in order to change the trajectory of students' lives. The organization will provide differentiated, literacy-focused tutoring instruction in small groups consisting of no more than six students. The instruction will take place after hours either on school premises or at the students' homes.

 

Based on the data provided by the National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP) 2022 report, Black and Hispanic students are reading at levels significantly below their white peers. The average score for black students according to the NAEP's data is 194 and 206 for Hispanic students. NAEP Basic is 208, Proficient is 238, and Advanced is 268.
