About Literacy Learning Academy

Literacy Learning Academy, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in December 2022 with the mission of supporting students from socioeconomically disadvantaged communities in New York City and helping to change the trajectory of their academic success. We provide small group reading tutoring tailored to meet students' individual needs.

Data from the 2022 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) highlights persistent reading achievement gaps: Black and Hispanic students scored significantly below their white peers. The average reading score for Black students was 194 and 206 for Hispanic students, both falling below the NAEP basic level of 208. A score of 238 is considered proficient, while 268 represents advanced.
